things are going to change

My friend Kristen writes a monthly (sort of) post about what she read the month before and I always blush from shame when reading it because, beyond newspaper, magazines and blog posts, I haven't read sh*t the month before.

So, I'm going to change that. Next month, I'm writing a "what I read this month" post. I'm going to get back to reading because 1) it's embarrassing that I don't and 2) because it was once something that gave me immense pleasure.

See you in a month.

Well, really the only reason I read so much is for my health. If I don't read for pleasure in the 1/2 hour before I go to bed, I get insomnia. It helps me turn off my brain and stop thinking about work.

I don't do nearly as much "binge reading" as I used to. Adult life doesn't allow for it all that well.

I also use reading as a tool to procrastinate from writing my own material. That's actually BAD.

Stop trying to make me feel better. ;) Seriously, there are all these stories about me as a kid, my nose perpetually in a book, dumping my entire bookcase in my bed and my mom knowing that I was asleep because of the sound of the books hitting the floor, one by one.

Must. Get. Back. To. That. Place.
