a rockin' new year
I bought tickets yesterday to go see Ira Glass of This American Life when he comes to George Washington University in April (which seems so very far away). One of my seemingly endless list of resolutions for the new year is to shake up my social life a little, which includes trying to take in more shows.
It's the city dweller curse. We live in a place where the cost of living is high so we can do more than go to WalMart on Sunday or drive an hour to see some major act in an arena a few times a year and then we spend all of our time drinking at the same bar or getting take out from the same Thai place on the corner.
Boooorrring.
Based on 2007, I might as well live in a town with one bar -- as long as, of course, they stocked single malt scotch.
So, I'm going to see Ira in April. Ira and his big glasses (part Elvis Costello, part Sally Jesse Raphael), whiny voice and excellent storytelling.
Oh, it's going to be a rockin' new year.
(I promise not to throw my panties at the stage.)

That's a great resolution. I haven't made my resolution(s) yet, but I'm thinking of something similar -- just one firm resolution, which is to Live Life More. That means leaving the housing and taking in cultural events, including rock concerts and stage plays.
Have fun seeing Ira. He comes to Royce Hall occasionally, and I really ought to check him out when he does.
