Back in June I told you to head out and buy a Jaguar or a Land Rover -- or to at least say something nice to the Ford Motor Company -- because Ford had stood up to the American Family Association's efforts to organize a boycott in protest of their fundraising for the Gay and Lesbian Alliance against Defamation (GLAAD) and their receipt of high praise from the Human Rights Campaign, a gay and lesbian political organization. Well, the odd thing with that boycott was that it went away relatively quickly. Six months later, however, Ford has announced that it is pulling its Jaguar and Land Rover ads from gay and lesbian publications in response to new threats of a boycott from, yes, the American Family Association. Have they been negotiating all this time?
