prevention first

Came across this on Salon.com today. It's a petition from NARAL, calling on the organizers of the "Right-to-Life Movement" to join a new campaign to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies -- and the need for abortion. It's a put up or shut up challenge that works for me.

Specifically, the petition calls for support of the "Prevention First Act" (s.20), proposed by Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) last month. The bill aims to "expand access to preventive health care services that reduce unintended pregnancy, reduce the number of abortions and imporve access to women's health care".

The bill has 22 co-sponsors, including our beloved Hillary Rodham Clinton.
