my sugar bowl

What is wrong with these people? Education Secretary Margaret Spellings has been on the job since Monday. Rod Paige, the former Secretary who referred to the National Education Association (NEA), the largest teachers' union in the country, as a "terrorist organization", decided not to stick around for George W. Bush Destroys the Country, Part II.

Anyway, on day two of the new gig, Spellings decided that it was VERY IMPORTANT for her to let the folks at PBS know that she wasn't going to be coughing up federal dollars for cartoons with, ewwwwwwwww, lessssbians. In fact, she wants her money back.

See, there's this bunny and his name is Buster and he's got a cartoon on PBS. In one of the episodes, Buster takes a trip up to Vermont to learn about where maple sugar comes from. Since this IS Vermont, Buster apparently runs into a a lesbian couple or two on his trip.

The episode, which is aptly titled "Sugartime!" (and I'm not referring to the maple sugar, folks) is never going to see the light of day unless you happen to live in Boston. Boston is in Massachusetts, where they let lesbians get MARRIED. It's also the home of WGBH, the station that produces Postcards from Buster, and they're not going to let their good work go to waste. While PBS won't distribute the episode, WGBH will also make it available to other stations themselves.

Leave No Child Behind.
